By car

The TU Dortmund campus is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the Sauerland line A45 crosses the Ruhr expressway B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, while the Dortmund-Dorstfeld and -Barop exits on the A40 lead to the North Campus. The university is signposted at the exits. There is a charging station for electric cars on the North Campus, Vogelpothsweg.

By bus and train

The Dortmund University S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 S-Bahn line runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund Central Station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf Central Station via Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447, and 462. Timetable information can be found on the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association website, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route map.

H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of TU Dortmund University is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 runs every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes you to Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes, and from there you can take the S-Bahn to the university. A wider range of international flights is available at Düsseldorf Airport, around 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

International 6G Research at TU Dortmund University

Dortmund 6G Workshop Brings Together International Experts in Security, Privacy, and Resilience

Approximately 40 researchers and industry experts from across Europe gathered at TU Dortmund University to discuss trustworthy 6G networks and explore the latest 6G demonstrators.

On 14 and 15 July 2026, TU Dortmund University hosted the "Dortmund 6G Security, Privacy, and Resilience Workshop" on its campus. The event was organized by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Onur Günlü, Head of the Institute of Communications Engineering, within Working Group 2, "Intelligent and Resilient Systems," of the European COST Action 6G-PHYSEC.

The two-day workshop brought together researchers from leading European universities and industry experts, including representatives from Deutsche Telekom/T-Labs and Nokia. Scientific presentations and in-depth mini-tutorials explored key challenges facing future wireless networks: physical-layer security, privacy in integrated sensing and communication, authentication, AI-enabled wireless security, quantum communications, and resilient networked robotic systems.

The scientific program was complemented by mobile 6G laboratory demonstrations developed within Germany's BMFTR 6GEM+ Transfer Hub. The demonstrations showed how theoretical concepts, signal processing, and experimental wireless systems come together in practice. For students and early-career researchers in particular, the workshop offered a first-hand look at current 6G research and its real-world applications.

The event strengthened links between international academia and industry while showcasing TU Dortmund University's research on secure, privacy-preserving, and resilient communication systems.
