Scholarships and sponsorship awards

This page is intended to provide an overview of the prizes that are awarded on a regular basis. A distinction can be made between graduate prizes, doctoral and research funding prizes as well as scholarships etc. for students.

We are aware that tuition fees and the financing of studies in general represent a major hurdle for many students. Nevertheless, you should not give up on your desired course of study because of this. There are various ways to obtain financial support for your studies if necessary: if you have a low income (or that of your parents), you are entitled to support under the Federal Training Assistance Act (Bafög). In the case of good and very good performance, there are scholarships from the federal government, churches, political parties and business, to name but a few.

It is also possible to be exempted from tuition fees by the TU under certain (performance) conditions. There are also many subject-oriented scholarships from companies and foundations. All these scholarships are sometimes underutilized. And if nothing else is possible, taking out a loan is still better than not studying at all. Talk to us if you need advice on this.
Further announcements are also posted at the Dean's Office. Information pages are available for some awards.

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology also awards Germany Scholarships.

A Deutschlandstipendium scholarship supports talented and high-achieving students. Scholarship holders are supported with 300 euros per month, initially for one year.

To be eligible for funding, students must complete their studies within the standard period of study and perform particularly well. The following are taken into account

  • achievements to date
  • personal career
  • social commitment
  • willingness to take on responsibility
  • special social, family or personal circumstances, for example due to family origin or a migration background

Further information on the application and the required documents etc. can be found on the TU Dortmund University website.
