study oecologicum
Sustainability and climate protection are becoming increasingly important in our society and are being considered on an interdisciplinary basis in many institutions and companies. Universities have a special responsibility to support education for sustainable development and research into topics relevant to the future. For this reason, a sustainability certificate will be offered at TU Dortmund University from the winter semester 2021/22, which students can obtain in addition to their studies.
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is participating in this offer.

Electrical engineering and information technology - paving the way for a sustainable future
The lecture series "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology - Paving the way for a sustainable future" is a compulsory module for students who have started the Bachelor's degree course in Sustainable Energy Systems from the winter semester 2024/2025 onwards.
For students from other departments, the lecture series is available as part of the "Extracurricular Competencies" or the "Studium Fundamentale".
The module is also designed as a specialized module for the studium oecologicum with a wide range of electrotechnical and information technology topics that contribute as building blocks for a sustainable future. Aspects of climate research, climate economics, energy efficiency and intelligent applications in the areas of electricity, heat and mobility are considered, starting with overall views of energy systems and how these can be made CO2-neutral in the future. Electricity grid technologies as well as information technology and grids are used as enablers for a wide range of efficient and automated efficiency solutions.
Students from all disciplines are given a broad overview of innovations for shaping a sustainable future. The module is suitable as a specialist module for students from all disciplines as part of the studium oecologicum. For students of electrical engineering and information technology, it is a supplementary module that introduces the breadth of the department's activities in the field of sustainability.
The lecture series takes place on Thursday:
