On-board systems

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Frei

Electromobility and automation will shape the vehicles and aircraft of the future. Powerful and highly reliable energy supply and communication architectures form an important basis for this.
The on-board systems department researches and develops methods to meet all future requirements for these architectures.

Work is being carried out with partners from industry and research on the following topics, among others:

Energy supply systems and power electronics

  • Stability of supply systems
  • Thermal simulation

Safety, reliability and EMC

  • FPGA-based real-time signal processing for interference suppression
  • AI-based diagnostic procedures
  • Simulation methods for EMC

Communication systems

  • Physical layer of Ethernet, CAN etc.
  • Simulation methods for automotive bus systems
