- Image processing is concerned with the development of methods for the automated analysis of image data.
- One focus of the Image Signal Processing department is on methods for image-based 3D reconstruction of surfaces, for example for industrial measurement and testing technology for the three-dimensional measurement of industrial components with the aim of detecting quality defects.
- Structures and movement patterns visible in image data are interpreted using pattern classification methods.
- Furthermore, approaches are being developed for the image-based generation of topographical maps and for the analysis of spectral data for remote sensing, in which the aim is to determine the three-dimensional structure of planetary surfaces and the type of rocks and minerals of which they are composed.
