Location & approach

By car

The TU Dortmund campus is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the Sauerland line A45 crosses the Ruhr expressway B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, while the Dortmund-Dorstfeld and -Barop exits on the A40 lead to the North Campus. The university is signposted at the exits. There is a charging station for electric cars on the North Campus, Vogelpothsweg.

By bus and train

The Dortmund University S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 S-Bahn line runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund Central Station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf Central Station via Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447, and 462. Timetable information can be found on the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association website, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route map.

H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of TU Dortmund University is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 runs every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes you to Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes, and from there you can take the S-Bahn to the university. A wider range of international flights is available at Düsseldorf Airport, around 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

Graduation ceremony

Absolventenfeier Hörsaal, Collage

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology cordially invites you to the graduation ceremony on 29 May 2026. As every year, the graduates will be honored (graduation period: 01.02.2025 - 28.02.2026). The graduation ceremony begins at 5 pm in the SRG building at Campus North.

The event is part of the Department's Electrical Engineering Day and is accompanied by a supporting program to which all graduates, friends and family are invited. You can gain interesting insights into research and other activities of the faculty during laboratory tours. A food truck will be available. Please note the time schedule in the supporting program.

Participation is only possible after invitation and registration. Each graduate can bring a total of 3 accompanying people.
