Location & approach

By car

The TU Dortmund campus is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the Sauerland line A45 crosses the Ruhr expressway B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, while the Dortmund-Dorstfeld and -Barop exits on the A40 lead to the North Campus. The university is signposted at the exits. There is a charging station for electric cars on the North Campus, Vogelpothsweg.

By bus and train

The Dortmund University S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 S-Bahn line runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund Central Station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf Central Station via Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447, and 462. Timetable information can be found on the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association website, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route map.

H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of TU Dortmund University is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 runs every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes you to Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes, and from there you can take the S-Bahn to the university. A wider range of international flights is available at Düsseldorf Airport, around 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

Jens Aigner Receives the IEEE Transactions on EMC Honorable Mention Award

Aigner EMC Award 2026

Jens Aigner's article in the journal *IEEE Transactions on EMC* was awarded second place in the Best Paper Award.

At the IEEE EMC + SIPI Symposium in Dallas, Texas, this year’s IEEE EMC Society awards were presented during the awards luncheon. The paper “Broadband Active Common Mode EMI Suppression of a GaN Motor Inverter With Adaptive FIR Filters Using Delay-Compensated Gate Control Signals” from the On-Board Systems research group received the Honorable Mention 2026 Best Paper Award, placing second among approximately 200 papers published last year.

In this paper, the common-mode interference of a drive inverter is reconstructed in real time for the first time from its control signals using an adaptive FIR filter and fed back into the system as counter-interference to achieve high interference suppression. We would like to thank the Editorial Board, the EMC Society, and the reviewers for this special recognition.
