Graduate network
Once a year, the department celebrates the graduates of the previous academic year with an academic ceremony.
The event has found its place and is intended to establish itself at the end of the academic year as an annual gathering of members, graduates, alumni and friends of the department. Anyone who would like to maintain their connections to the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology after leaving is also cordially invited to exchange ideas and information at the subsequent faculty party! The alumni network was launched at the first party on 20.11.1998. Contact with or among alumni can easily be maintained or re-established via the Electrical Engineering Dean's Office or the Electrical Engineering Section of the Society of Friends of the University.
Hopefully there will continue to be unexpected and enjoyable encounters between alumni, guests and faculty members at the faculty party.
Here is a chronicle of the last graduation farewells combined with a heartfelt thank you to the organizers and helpers of the student council for hosting the faculty party!
See you again in our department!

Electrical Engineering Section
The Electrical Engineering Section of the Gesellschaft der Freunde der Universität Dortmund e.V. was founded in December 1993 as part of the university's 25th anniversary celebrations. In the course of the renaming of the department in 2000, the name of the section was changed accordingly. The Society of Friends of the University of Dortmund is a non-profit association of friends and supporters of the University, which was founded in 1958 on the initiative of the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The "Friends" see the establishment and maintenance of contacts between science and practice as one of their most important tasks.
The Electrical Engineering and Information Technology Section represents the interests of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
The narrow aims and tasks of this section are
- Information exchange of the department
- Professional contacts with chairs and institutes
- Events on current topics relevant to the subject
- Promotion of personal contacts between section members
By becoming a member of the Society of Friends, you declare your affiliation to the Electrical Engineering and Information Technology Section and gain access to the network. This allows you to maintain or resume your contacts with the department, colleagues or former fellow students.
