Location & approach

By car

The TU Dortmund campus is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the Sauerland line A45 crosses the Ruhr expressway B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, while the Dortmund-Dorstfeld and -Barop exits on the A40 lead to the North Campus. The university is signposted at the exits. There is a charging station for electric cars on the North Campus, Vogelpothsweg.

By bus and train

The Dortmund University S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 S-Bahn line runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund Central Station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf Central Station via Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447, and 462. Timetable information can be found on the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association website, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route map.

H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of TU Dortmund University is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 runs every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes you to Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes, and from there you can take the S-Bahn to the university. A wider range of international flights is available at Düsseldorf Airport, around 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

Final Seminar

Objectives of the module (for BA ETIT & NES according to PO2023):
The module "Final Seminar: Scientific Method" aims to deepen scientific methodological competence and promote the ability to prepare one's own research results in a structured manner, present them in a manner appropriate to the target audience, and critically reflect on them in professional discourse.

Procedure:

The module comprises three elements:

Lecture "Scientific Method" with exercises
In the lecture, students acquire basic knowledge of scientific work, which they apply in practice in accompanying exercises. This component is ungraded and is recorded as academic achievement in BOSS.
Active participation in five final presentations
By attending various presentations, students reflect on different presentation styles and formats. Participation is ungraded and is documented on a tracking sheet.
Presentation of your own bachelor's thesis
The students present the central contents and results of their BA thesis.

Module exam:

The presentation for the bachelor's thesis forms the module examination and is graded by the supervisors.
