By car

The TU Dortmund campus is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the Sauerland line A45 crosses the Ruhr expressway B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, while the Dortmund-Dorstfeld and -Barop exits on the A40 lead to the North Campus. The university is signposted at the exits. There is a charging station for electric cars on the North Campus, Vogelpothsweg.

By bus and train

The Dortmund University S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 S-Bahn line runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund Central Station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf Central Station via Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447, and 462. Timetable information can be found on the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association website, and DSW21 also offers an interactive route map.

H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of TU Dortmund University is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 runs every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes you to Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes, and from there you can take the S-Bahn to the university. A wider range of international flights is available at Düsseldorf Airport, around 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

New PO from winter semester 2023/2024

Change to this examination regulation

As part of the reaccreditation of the degree programs at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in 2023, the curricula were revised. In the Bachelor's degree course in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in particular, current aspects such as digitalization and machine learning were added to the course content and the structure of the degree courses was optimized.
As a result, new examination regulations (PO 2023) were introduced at the start of the winter semester 2023/24.
The following applies to older versions of the examination regulations for the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology:
Students who are still in an older version of the examination regulations on the cut-off date 30.09.2026 will be automatically transferred to the new PO ex officio on 01.10.2026. This change is also possible earlier upon application (see also § 32 of the new PO).
The application to change the examination regulations can be submitted to the Examinations Office with immediate effect.
When changing to the new PO, examination and study achievements that have already been completed can be recognized. Detailed information on this can be found in the transition table.
