Institute for Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Economics

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Rehtanz / Dr.-Ing. Ulf Häger (deputy professorship)

The Institute's research designs technically viable and sustainable energy systems of the future.

The Institute focuses on the following topics:

  • Flexible electrical transmission and distribution grids
  • System integration of renewable energies
  • Multi-energy systems and energy efficiency
  • Protection, control technology and automation of energy systems
  • Electricity management for sustainable energy systems

We deal with system planning and design, system technology and automation and conduct applied and method-oriented research. Many projects are carried out in close cooperation with industry. The institute has state-of-the-art testing facilities for smart grids, electromobility, measurement and automation technology, protection and control technology and power electronics.
