Dortmund University Days 2026 with information for pupils

Dortmunder Hochschultage 2026 - 6G Labor mit Schülern und Schülerinnen © Dorothe Lunte/TU Dortmund
As part of the Dortmund University Days on January 21 and 22, 2026, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology offered a wide range of study and career information for interested school pupils under the motto "Experience fascinating research topics up close". A great opportunity to get a taste of university life, the department's degree programs and the everyday working life of an engineer.

On both days, current lectures from the winter semester could be attended and presentations could be listened to. Individual advice on degree courses and career prospects, interesting internships and demonstrations rounded off the visitor program:

High voltage with lightning and sparks

Experimental demonstration of the possible effects of high voltages and currents in the form of discharge phenomena in high-voltage technology.

Production of a microchip

Guided practical course in the clean room laboratory on the manufacture of modern microchips with the necessary process steps. We showed what microstructure technology has in common with photography, baking or plaster casts.

Teleoperation in the 6G age

How can robots be precisely controlled over long distances? And what does 6G have to do with it? In the experiment, robotic arms are controlled in a virtual air field hockey game! Find out how 6G communication, digital twins and virtual reality work together to combine movement and perception in real time.

3+4=2! Twisted math for encryption technology

Without realizing it, we rely on this twisted math when using our cell phones and computers. Uncovering hidden processes explains why 3+4=2 is sometimes correct and how, for example, our cell phones use it to protect wireless transmission to the Internet.
